Thanksgiving Food Drive

11/12/2018 - 11/20/2018

During November, the Children’s Department will be collecting Thanksgiving-dinner food to donate to the Survival Center! Bring in Thanksgiving food for our Cornucopia Box, and in exchange we will give you a FREE BOOK!

We are collecting these foods: Stuffing mix,Canned mince meat, Canned cranberry sauce, Canned corn, Canned gravy or gravy mix, Instant potatoes, Beans, Canned pumpkin, Corn bread mix, Canned sweet potatoes or yams,Canned green vegetables, Biscuit or muffin mixes, and also protein foods like peanut butter, beans or tuna fish.

Sing With Me! Music Program for Preschoolers & Their Grown-ups

10:30am - 11:00am

If you have a little one who loves music, this program is for you! Join us for a half-hour of adult-&-child singing, clapping, and stomping along to favorite kids’ songs, with occasional musical instruments or accompanying books thrown in! No need to register, just drop in! Please note that adult participation is expected for this program - and it's fun!

Pop Culture Collective

3:00pm - 6:00pm

Unite for an afternoon of broad-spectrum fandom! Each week will have a different theme - anime, Pokemon, Steven Universe, Star Wars, cosplay, superheroes, & more - discuss, play, watch, and geek out! 

This club is open to ages 16 - 22, and all are welcome!

New Tech Petting Zoo for YAs

6:00pm

The Hubbard Library was awarded a grant to buy a bunch of cool tech toys that you'll be able to use in the library or check out with your card, and we want YOU to tell us what we should buy!

We will have Makey Makey, Little Bits, and Bloxels electronics kits, Sphero, Dash, and Dot robots, 3D Doodlers, Lego WEDO and more, laid out on the Youth Room tables - come try them out, see what's fun, and tell us what you think!

This project was brought to you with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, grant #LS-00-16-0022-18. Thanks also to the Wilbraham Public Library, the Chicopee Public Library, and the Jones Library for loaning their tech toys for this program.

Story-and-Play for 2-3 year olds

This fall's storytime theme is “All About Families”, a six-week session about all parents, siblings, grandparents, even pets!

The 45 minute storytime includes 15 minutes for free play, 15 minutes of stories, fingerplays & songs, and 15 minutes of craft and snacktime.

Ready-To-Read Storytime for 5 - 8 year olds

4:00pm

Children who have entered grade school journey towards being readers, but they still love listening to stories! This program is designed to support your emergent reader by sharing a sample of stories & series that are geared toward various levels of early readers, & get them excited to use their new reading skills on the sequels later. Stories are followed by a craft, and we finish up the 60 minute session with a snack.

Registration required; please note that when you register, you are signing up for the entire six-week session.
