Musical Petting Zoo with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra!


The Musical Petting Zoo is a fun and informative traveling hands-on exhibit of musical instruments that's perfect for pre-schoolers as well as older kids! After an introduction to the musical instruments, participants get a chance to bow a violin, blow a horn or tap out a rhythm on a drum. Each participant receives an Activity Book that includes info, coloring activities, and games about orchestra instruments.

Drop in rock painting Mondays 3-5 beginning June 25

Help the library build it’s new “Libraries rock” kindness rocks garden.  Come in, paint a rock and leave it here to dry.  All are invited to participate in our Libraries Rock garden installation party on August 14 at 5:30 PM. Your rock will be included in our rock garden. 


Drop-In Rock Painting

We are growing a very special garden this summer to celebrate our "Library's Rock!" summer reading program theme - a painted rock garden! Drop by any Monday afternoon during the summer months to paint a rock, then join us on 8/14 for a Garden Party to celebrate the instillation of the rock garden on the library's front lawn!


Sing With Me! Music Program for Preschoolers & Their Grown-ups

10:30am - 11:00am

If you have a little one who loves music, this program is for you! Join us for a half-hour of adult-&-child singing, clapping, and stomping along to favorite kids’ songs, with occasional musical instruments or accompanying books thrown in! No need to register, just drop in! Please note that adult participation is expected for this program - and it's fun!

Pop Culture Collective

3:00pm - 6:00pm

Unite for an afternoon of broad-spectrum fandom! Each week will have a different theme - anime, Pokemon, Steven Universe, Star Wars, cosplay, superheroes, & more - discuss, play, watch, and geek out! 

This club is open to high schoolers & up, all are welcome!

Story Time for 2-3 year olds


Enjoy a story time with your little one inspired by their favorite songs - twinkling stars, farms, monkeys,boats & more! Each program starts with a 15 minute free-play period, followed by about 15 minutes of stories, songs, finger plays, and games, and finishes up with a simple craft & a snack. 

Please note that when you register your child, you are signing up for all 5. weeks. Adult participation is expected and appreciated. Siblings welcome. Please notify the Children's Department if you are unable to make a day.
