A storytime especially for big kids!
Children who have entered grade school start their own journeys towards being readers, but they still love listening to stories! This storytime supports emerging readers by exposing them to authors & series geared towards them in a lively, engaging setting, complete with craft to broaden their interest and a snack at the end of the hour! Music instructor and band leader Rick Marshall will teach students rudimentary rhythms, sticking combinations, beats, and self-expression through percussion. The classes will meet on the Library lawn or in the gazebo in case of rain, and will encourage self-expression and foster a sense of community. For ages 7 - 14. Equipment will be provided. Mark your calendars: a Drum Recital will follow the 3 weeks of classes at 5pm on 8/16! Please register online or in the Children’s Department.
