December Book & Craft Pairing: Winter Holidays & No-Sew Sock Snowmen

Pick up a book about a winter holiday & get a complete take-home craft kit!

The Hubbard Library Youth Room is offering a monthly book and craft pairing program; check out a book about our theme of the month, and take home everything you need to make an accompanying craft!

This month we're making no-sew sock snowmen to go with books about about winter holidays!

After we receive your registration, we will send you a list of available books about the theme. Write back with your selection/s: pick at least one book or CD for every participating child, but feel free to ask for more! You can also just let us know your child's age and ask for a book bundle (7-10 books on the theme already packaged up by age level). You can either pick up them up at the library circulation desk or through curbside service.

Please click below to register. Call (413)583-3408 x2 when you arrive for curbside service.

Dashing Through The Snow, the real history of Christmas in New England

Sign up now!

We all have formed in our minds a picture of a perfect early New England Christmas.  This image might include families decorating an evergreen tree, bedecking their houses with garlands, attending church services, giving gifts, and Santa Claus.  It is amazing how many of us have these elements in our mental image of this festive time of the year. The reality of Christmas in early New England may be disappointing to some and unbelievable to many, but the historical actuality of the celebration of Christmas – or lack thereof – is an interesting tale and one that blends the heritage and spirit of many cultures and many lands.

By registering for this program, you agree to wear a mask at all times during the event if attending in-person.  Please register here or by calling the circulation desk.

In the event that you have symptoms of COVID or otherwise find you can not attend in-person, or prefer to meet online, we have a Zoom link for the program so you may watch from home.  You will receive this link whether you intend to meet in-person or online. Note: Dennis' talk includes a PowerPoint presentation that may not be completely viewable on the Zoom call as we will not be doing a screen share.
