Summer Reading Program For Adults

Date: 8/14/2018

Description:

Sign-up beginning June 21, 2018.

How it works:

Step 1:  Sign up to participate in our ONLINE summer reading program. Check out library books and audiobooks; e-books count too.  You may do this in either order!

Step 2: View "Books" to log your book weekly. 

Step 3: Once you've logged for 6 weeks, print your certificate and come in to get a raffle ticket for our GRAND PRIZE brought to you by The Friends of the Library. 

GET ADDITIONAL ENTRIES by attending special events. View this on the SRP Website under  "Challenges."  One entry per event attended & one reading log per patron.  All logging must be submitted by 5 pm on August 23.  Winner need not be present to win.

Drum up a beat in August!

Description:

Do you like surprises? Would you like help deciding what to listen to next? Let us take away the trouble of a decision and help you drum up a beat to listen to.  Check out a CD selected by us with hints for you. This is based on our well loved “Blind Date with a Book” event.  After listening to that beat you’ve drummed up, fill out an evaluation form to select one free item from the Friends of the Library Book sale.

 

Chess Club

Stop by the library for a fantastic chess match against seasoned chess veterans!  Our longest continually running adult program is free and open to the public!

Teddy Bear Picnic

Description:

Bring your favorite stuffed friend, a blanket, a picnic lunch, and join us on the library lawn for stories about teddy bears! If the weather is bad we will move our picnic inside.

Every Wednesday afternoon during the summer we pull out our big bin of Legos! You can do free-form building, or try one of our Challenge Cards; creations will be put on display in the Children's Department for the week!

KANGAROO TIME!

This program is for the bounciest, wiggliest, most active little ones! Movement, music and games are mixed in with quick, interactive books for a rollicking good time, with no sitting-still required! Adult participation is expected in this program.

DRUM CIRCLE RECITAL!

Family, friends, and the general public are welcome to this rousing demonstration of what our Drum Circle students learned!

FUN WITH RHYTHM DRUM CIRCLE

Time: 5:00pm

Description:

Music instructor & band leader Rick Marshall will teach students rudimentary rhythms, sticking combinations, beats, & self-expression through percussion.

Meets Thursday 8/9 at 5:30pm; Thursday 8/16 at 5:00pm, Friday 8/24 at 2pm, & there is a recital on Thursday, 8/30 at 5:30pm.
