Bedtime Stories

6:30pm - 7:00pm

Join us for a bedtime-themed storytime!

The storytime lasts approximately 30 minutes, and is suitable for ages 2-7.

Children are encouraged to come in their pajamas; if all goes well, they'll fall asleep on the ride home!

Movie: A Wrinkle in Time

The smash movie of the spring is our special feature this morning! Based on the Newbery Award-winning book by Madeline L'Engle, this movie delivers equal parts exhilaration & inspiration. You can read Common Sense Media's review here.

Stay after the movie to capture some of the most fantastic looks from the movie with face paint, glitter & stick-on jewels!

Frozen Sing Along!


Are you the world's biggest Frozen fan? Come join in the fun when we show the sing along version of the movie Frozen! Costumes - and singing along - are highly encouraged! Stay after the movie to make an Elsa crown or Sven's antlers!

"A Wrinkle In Time" Face Painting!


Right after our showing of A Wrinkle In Time is over, we will try out some of the most fabulous looks from the movie using face paint, glitter & stick on jewels!

3-D & Robotics Makerspace program

2:30pm - 4:30pm

See, learn about, and use some of the coolest new tech out there, like a 3D printer, a CNC milling/carving machine,   Ozobots, Little Bits Electronics, & a bunch of other cool stuff. Participants will learn how to use the TinkerCAD & possibly Easel programs. Optional (but helpful): bring your laptop if you have one, so you can learn on your own device (no software needs to be installed to play with the programs introduced in the workshop).

Story Time for 3 - 5 year-olds


The summer story time series features things from your child's favorite songs, including twinkling stars, itsy bitsy spiders, & more! Each program includes about 30 minutes of stories, finger-plays, songs and games related to that week’s theme, followed by a craft project and a snack; the total storytime runs approximately 60 minutes.

Please note that when you register, you are signing your child up for the entire 6 week session.

Musical Petting Zoo with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra!


The Musical Petting Zoo is a fun and informative traveling hands-on exhibit of musical instruments that's perfect for pre-schoolers as well as older kids! After an introduction to the musical instruments, participants get a chance to bow a violin, blow a horn or tap out a rhythm on a drum. Each participant receives an Activity Book that includes info, coloring activities, and games about orchestra instruments.

Drop-In Rock Painting

We are growing a very special garden this summer to celebrate our "Library's Rock!" summer reading program theme - a painted rock garden! Drop by any Monday afternoon during the summer months to paint a rock, then join us on 8/14 for a Garden Party to celebrate the instillation of the rock garden on the library's front lawn!
