For 6th grade & up: Apply online to be a summer volunteer
The Library needs volunteers aged 11 & up (or going into 6th grade in the fall) during the summer to put away books, help prepare arts & crafts projects, help set up and break down outdoor programs, & assist with the younger kids’ programs. Volunteers generally work one hour a week. Please fill out this APPLICATION FORM by June 28th to participate.
All new volunteers must attend a training session. Once you have completed your application form, please sign up for one HERE.
AGES 0-5: Sing With Me, Spring session, May-June
10:30am - 11:00am
Lively music and movement for little ones and their grown ups!
If you have a little one who loves music, this program is for you! Join us for a half-hour of adult-&-child singing, clapping, and stomping along to favorite kids’ songs!
When the weather is nice and the temperature is over 50 degrees, we will meet on the lawn with no attendance limit. If you're not sure, check our Facebook page the morning of the program; we will also send out an email the morning of the program to everyone who is registered to let you know.
During cold weather months or when the weather is inclement, we meet in our program room and only those registered and not on the waitlist may attend. If we get a cancellation, we'll call the waitlist as soon as we hear; note that we do not leave voicemails or send email to fill cancellation spots.
Once you register, you are signed up for all of May & June; please let us know if you can't make it. Our registration software doesn't send confirmation notices: you can assume you're registered unless you hear back from us.
FOR 6TH GR. & UP: Volunteer Training Session
2:30pm - 4:30pm
SUMMER VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSION #1
This training session is for kids who have applied to be summer volunteers. Summer volunteers must be 11 years old or going into 6th grade in fall. All volunteers must attend one training session, unless they have been volunteering at the library during the school year. The training session will last about 2 hours.
If you haven't turned in an application yet, you must do so before this training session. You can get one from the Children's Department, or download it (below). Fill it out, get it signed by a parent or guardian, and return it to the Children’s Department (NOT the Circulation Desk, please!), so that we can sign you up for a time to work.
You must also read The Spiel (training & orientation material for volunteers) before you attend your training session. If you haven't received one yet, you can download it (below) or pick it up from the Children's Department.
