Wireless Network Access Policy

The Hubbard Memorial Library offers free wireless access in the library for the public to use with their personal notebooks, laptops, and other mobile devices. These access points are unsecured and may be accessible only during normal business library hours. A patron’s use of this service is governed by the library’s Internet Use Policy.

Any restriction or monitoring of a minor’s access to the Library’s wireless network is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Library staff may provide only limited functional assistance with wireless access (such as how to connect). Library staff cannot provide technical assistance, or troubleshoot problems related to your wireless device or assist in making changes to your device’s network settings and/or hardware configuration. The Library does not guarantee that your device will work with its wireless access. The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety / security of a patron’s personal equipment or data while using the wireless network.

As with most public wireless “hot spots”, the Library’s wireless connection is not secure. Cautious and informed wireless users should not transmit personal information (i.e.: credit card numbers, passwords and other sensitive information) while using any wireless “hot spot”.

Take appropriate precautions when using this service.

All wireless access users should have up-to-date anti-virus and spyware protection on their laptop computers or wireless devices. The Library will not be responsible for any information (i.e.: credit card) that is compromised, or for any damage caused by your hardware or software due to electrical surges, security issues or consequences caused by viruses or hacking.

Wireless printing is available using our Printeron service. Send an e-mail to Ludlow-bw@printspots.com (black and white – 10 cents per page); Ludlow-color@printspots.com (color – 30 cents per page) or upload documents at this address: www.printeron.net/lud/Ludlow. Free mobile apps can be downloaded at www.printeron/apps.

Access Internet applications with sound using your own headphones. The library has a limited number of headphones for in-house use or to check out.

All users are expected to use the Library’s wireless access in an ethical, legal and responsible manner. Use of the wireless network is entirely at the risk of the user. The library disclaims any and all liability for loss of confidential information, or damages resulting from that loss.

Most wireless equipment will be compatible with the library’s wireless network. However, the Hubbard Memorial Library makes no guarantees as to the compatibility of the network with any and all equipment. The Hubbard Memorial Library cannot guarantee the speed or quality of the connection.

Wireless network users should be certain their laptops or other devices are secured at all times and should never be left unattended in the library. The Hubbard Memorial Library is not responsible for stolen property.
